Turning Closings into Clean Water: The Impact of Our Real Estate Donations

Our goal was ambitious—raise $10,000 in just three months to fund the construction of a water well for a community in need. Thanks to the overwhelming support and participation of our agents and clients, we achieved more than we ever imagined.

At D&R Realtors, we believe that every real estate transaction can create a ripple of positive change. Earlier this year, we joined forces with fellow real estate agents on a mission to bring clean, sustainable water sources to communities in Africa. Our inspiration came from our close friend and fellow KW agent, Sheena Saydam, who started this initiative as part of her ongoing work with charity: water. Sheena’s campaign was a call to action that we couldn’t resist, and we, along with other KW agents from across the country, rallied together to help make a difference.

Surpassing Our Goal: More Than Just One Well

Initially, our plan was simple: for every transaction we closed between March and May, we would donate a portion of the proceeds to the Clean Water Project. Little did we know that our collective efforts would gain so much traction. By the end of March—just one month into our campaign—we had not only reached our $10,000 goal but doubled the number of agents involved in this cause!The result? By the end of June, we had raised an incredible $27,691, allowing us to fund multiple wells and directly impact the lives of 692 individuals in Africa who now have access to clean, safe water.

A Community Effort

Our success would not have been possible without the incredible generosity of our clients, partners, and fellow agents. The outpouring of support was truly humbling. We want to especially thank Sheena Saydam, whose leadership and commitment to charity:water inspired us to take part in this effort. Together with Sheena, agents from KW Ann Arbor, and many others across the country, we were able to multiply the impact of this project.Working alongside other passionate real estate professionals has shown us the power of collective action. Not only did we exceed our fundraising goal, but we also helped raise awareness about the ongoing global water crisis.

What’s Next: Ongoing Implementation

Though our fundraising campaign has officially ended, the work is far from over. The funds raised are now being put to work, with the ongoing construction of water wells. As these wells are implemented, they will provide clean, accessible water to the communities for years to come, improving health, education, and economic opportunities for countless individuals.We are excited to share updates as the project continues to unfold and the wells are completed. Why Clean Water Matters

Access to clean water is something many of us take for granted, but in many parts of the world, it remains a luxury. Lack of clean water leads to a host of problems, including poor health, limited access to education, and diminished economic opportunities.
